Kybella in Sterling Heights, MI
What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin by physically destroying fat cells. Kybella® is a non-surgical procedure with minimal downtime and minimum discomfort. Kybella can help improve the profile and contours of the face and it is the treatment of choice when diet and exercise alone cannot help. This treatment is available at Troy Laser Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan, performed by our board-certified physician, Dr. Kenneth Wolok.
What can Kybella® injections treat?
Kybella® is a great treatment option for patients seeking to improve their chin profile and facial contour. Kybella® might be recommended for patients who are:
- Unhappy or insecure about a “double chin” (extra skin or fat beneath the chin)
- Interested in a non-surgical option for double chin removal
- Otherwise healthy and fit, yet still unable to get rid of excess chin fat
- Self-conscious about looking older due to double chin
What does Kybella® treatment involve?
At Troy Laser Center, we spend time speaking with you about your aesthetic goals and needs. Dr. Kenneth Wolok provides complimentary consultations, during which the treatment area is assessed, along with patient’s expectations; if the patient is a good candidate, detailed explanation of Kybella’s mechanism of action is given and the first session is scheduled.
On the day of the scheduled session, about 30 min prior to the actual injection, a topical numbing solution is applied to the chin area for additional comfort. After 30 min, the chin area is marked with a special grid and the Kybella solution is injected directly into the fat cells, permanently destroying the fat (the body naturally disposes of it). To achieve satisfactory improvement, on average, 3-4 sessions are required, spaced out minimum 4 weeks apart. The amount of the solution being injected varies, as it depends on the severity of the double chin and the amount of the underlying fat. Typically, patients require anywhere from 2 to 4 ml of Kybella per session.
Patients can continue on with their usual activities and lifestyle, as the downtime is next to minimum and involves, in majority of cases, only mild to moderate swelling and redness. Dr. Kenneth Wolok and his medical aesthetician monitor and provide follow up support post treatment.
Are there risks associated with Kybella® treatment?
Because Kybella”s main ingredient, the deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring molecule in our bodies, the risks are minimal. However, the injection technique and Kybella placement is very specific; therefore, it is incredibly important to only entrust your Kybella treatment to experienced cosmetic physicians, such as Dr. Kenneth Wolok at Troy Laser Center in Michigan. Dr. Kenneth Wolok and his medical aesthetician have undergone extensive training in Kybella injections and have successfully treated many patients.
